Hole In One Number 5

On Wednesday morning Steve added his name to the Woodbridge Park Golf Club Hole In One Heroes list.

Steve was working in the Pro-shop when he was invited to come along by regulars John & Keith, as they were going to show him how to play golf properly

The format of the day was 9 hole match play – John & Keith against Steve off scratch.

After a shaky start on the first hole the format changed – Steve gave John & Keith a shot on every hole except the par 3′s.

After a couple of birdies along the way Steve took a slender 1-up lead into the 8th hole, where he jokingly told John and Keith he was going to stiff his shot and close out the match.

Steve tee’d off and the ball tracked the flag the whole way until it hit the flag stick.   From the tee the guys couldn’t see the ball finish, Keith thought it had spun back off the green.

So the door was opened to rescue the match for the Seniors…John hit a great shot, just off the green. Keith followed and also hit a great shot to about 5 foot…a hole winner any other time.

When the guys got to the green the ball was sat smiling at the bottom of the cup.

Steve’s delight was evident for all to see but there was a severe lack of High Fives…something Steve says needs to be worked on at the club.

In time honoured tradition when they got back to the clubhouse Steve bought drinks for everyone that was still at the club!

Congratulations to Steve – this incidentally was his 5th Hole in One!
